Full of Cr@p

I called in sick today.

I finally did what i've been trying to do since november. I needed to take a day off and not do anything. Just sit at home, not be distracted by anything, attempt to get some r&r, maybe even sleep in a little bit. With all the passing holidays and such, it's been a bit crazy around here. Rest has been somewhat short in supply but high in demand. Work has been very good and I'm very happy where I am, but the constant succession of high-pressure projects does take it's toll.

So since nov., i've been trying to figure out a way to take a day off. I've been trying to concoct some excuse to use up my sick days: "not feeling well" or "food poisoning", or my personal favorite "mental health day". But something about blantantly lying to my boss just didn't sit well. And using vacation days to sit at home and do nothing, well, that's almost a waste.

God definitely has a sense of humor. I woke up today not feeling too good. Slight fever, stomach's churning/eating itself. Thought to myself, "oh goodie!! i'm sick!!" But after 5 months of running through possible schemes of how to call in sick behind me, actually going to make the call about not coming into the office was more difficult than I could have imagined. It literally took me 2 hrs of wrestling to finally pick up the phone and leave a voicemail saying "i don't feel good, i'm not coming in today". You're probably laughing, and I would be too if it was you. heh.

The age-old adage about being "full-o-s#!t".... oh, how true it is...
I should just stop here. Save your fragile minds from the unpleasantries of the porcelain throne escapades...

PSA: Chill and Grill was an absolute bust. Stanfurd students are... umm... n/m
