It's still november

This morning, when i went to go pump gas, the attendant had the radio up a little loud so people outside could hear it. It's kinda funny cuz you never really think about it, but most gas stations are fairly silent with the only sounds you hear are the passing of cars and hiss/burble of the gas flowing through the hose. But in any case, on the radio, they had already started playing christmas tunes. And this wasn't any special radio station. This was a mainstream, soft-rock, listen at your desk kind of radio station.

It's November 21st. Thanksgiving is still a few days away. And we're already playing blocks of christmas tunes?!?!? What gives?! Has corporate america now infiltrated our airwaves to brainwash us to think about christmas and the shopping it entails even before we get our stomachs full off of turkey and pie and cranberry sauce and mashed whatevers? This is some seriously whacked-up conspiracy to get us to spend more money. Well, screw that. I'm definitely less inclined now to get in the holiday spirit. Spend money? Sure... but not at the mall. My gifts this year will include baked goods and a hearty pat on the back. And not to water down the importance of the birth of our Lord, christmas sucks. Boo on corporate america. I don't care about wal-mart and retail numbers and showing lackluster growth over last year. Who cares. It's just stuff. I hate how marketing people suceed as much as they do in getting us to buy all this stuff we absolutely, positively don't need.

So in protest, i suggest that we celebrate, Festivus.

Who's with me!!?!?!?!

what would the holidays be without the airing of grievances and the feats of strength?
