How's this for the life of an engineer:

Yesterday, a bunch of co-workers cut out of work and went water skiing. Yup, you heard right. We got paid to go have fun, athe expense of the company. The engineering VP's have lake-front houses a few doors down from each other, and both have boats. So every year, they invite just the engineers, no family or friends, over for the weekend for a good, drunken time on the lake. I wasn't going to go, but after thinking about it, why not? I'm never going to be able to go water-skiing for free again, and I'm getting paid for it. All my co-workers just decided to go on thursday, and time-cards were already turned in, and boss was in Turkey, so why not. So i went.

The houses are about 30 mins away from the entrance of Yosemite. So it was quite a drive up there. The houses are situated right on the lake-front, so it was really relaxing to just sit on the dock and watch the water. One of the VP's had a skiing powerboat, and the other had a wake-boarding boat. I don't know the difference between the two, but the wake-boarding boat make these crazy waves behind it. I tried the wake-boarding first, and oh boy, did i get beat up. It's kinda like snowboarding on water, only a lot harder, and if you don't let go of the tow-rope when you fall, you hurt even more. Of course, when you fall, you only squeeze tighter on whatever you're holding onto, so i got yanked around a little bit. I did manage to get up on the board and ride the waves for a bit. Not too shabby for the first time, but i did get my shoulders totally messed up since i fell and didn't let go. The VP didn't see me fall down, so he kept going for a little bit, and i felt my shoulder come out of it socket... ouch...

So after all of this, i came home and was really sore from just falling and being thrashed around by the water, but it wasn't too bad. But today... oh boy... today.... that's a whole different story.I woke up and my entire body felt like it got hit by a freight train. I guess when i fell wake-boarding, i pulled all the muscles in my back cuz i couldn't get outta bed. I just rolled out and somehow got on my feet. So, all today, i've been walking around like an old man holding my back and struggling to stand up. How sad is that? I'm 22, i'm holding my back like a 90 year old, and i even took a tub bath today... i'm getting too old for this =D
