Unemployment stories {part duex}

I went back up to tahoe today. And for the first time, i hit up the pipe. Not just the halfpipe. The superpipe. 17ft walls for 485ft down the mountain. I've seen this thing on tv, and people doing tricks and what not. Looks so easy. No sweat. I can do this...

And then you're struck with tunnel vision. The walls are at least 3x your height. Only thing i could think of was how the walls are coming in on me... kind of like indy jones or something like that. But all in all, it's not too bad. Just don't try to go all the way up the wall the first time. I got about half way up (i think), and nearly ruined my whole day. Lucky for me though, since i didn't pack any extra underwear. But that aside, here are some misc. highlights of the day:

  • Seeing a dodge neon (front left quarter-panel ripped off) get in a fight with the big resort bus (stuck in the snow wall with front left suspension destroyed). Both got beat up pretty bad. I'd call it a draw....
  • Getting picked on the lift by an old retired man imploring me get a helmet (which he isn't wearing) who's been sking/on racing team his whole life (hipocrasy) who skiis 100 days a year (i need to retire)
  • Succesfully landing 3 big hits in a row (yay factor: 10) but falling on my ass trying to undo my binding (yay factor: -10)
  • Packing a lunch (lasagna) planning to use the microwave (which they didn't have) and suffering through cold ricotta cheese and noodles.
  • Finishing my delicious (cold) lunch with a cold beer (guiness) and feeling great (stuffed almost to nausea) for a good hour.
All in all, a really fun day. Too bad for all you desk people. I'll pay for this later...

Unemployment stories {part 1}

After all those crazy snow storms, me and some friends went back up tahoe midweek. We were welcomed with over 10+ ft of powder. There is seriously more snow than i've ever seen before.

With all the great snow, there weren't that many people on the mountain for a thursday. Friday was different story though. I guess a lot more people were playing hookey. And in honor of those unable to make it up to the moutains and are stuck at their desks (sorry chongo), we pour a drink in honor of you:

at 10:30 in the morning.

Good times all around?

Rain rain go away... someday

When will it stop raining?

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!

Things done since coming back home:
  • Battling it out with the stomach flu while enduring 6 hr flight
  • Seeing more rain than sun, instead of snow
  • Visiting friend and new baby daughter
  • Almost making perfect record for avoidance to mall
  • Snowboarding in near perfect powder
  • Jazz at Yoshi's in Oakland
  • Visit to high school and meet up with old teachers (they called me ancient...sad)
  • striving to wake up before noon everyday (failing famously)
  • being bored silly and enjoying every moment of it

Snowboarding anybody?
