It's still november

This morning, when i went to go pump gas, the attendant had the radio up a little loud so people outside could hear it. It's kinda funny cuz you never really think about it, but most gas stations are fairly silent with the only sounds you hear are the passing of cars and hiss/burble of the gas flowing through the hose. But in any case, on the radio, they had already started playing christmas tunes. And this wasn't any special radio station. This was a mainstream, soft-rock, listen at your desk kind of radio station.

It's November 21st. Thanksgiving is still a few days away. And we're already playing blocks of christmas tunes?!?!? What gives?! Has corporate america now infiltrated our airwaves to brainwash us to think about christmas and the shopping it entails even before we get our stomachs full off of turkey and pie and cranberry sauce and mashed whatevers? This is some seriously whacked-up conspiracy to get us to spend more money. Well, screw that. I'm definitely less inclined now to get in the holiday spirit. Spend money? Sure... but not at the mall. My gifts this year will include baked goods and a hearty pat on the back. And not to water down the importance of the birth of our Lord, christmas sucks. Boo on corporate america. I don't care about wal-mart and retail numbers and showing lackluster growth over last year. Who cares. It's just stuff. I hate how marketing people suceed as much as they do in getting us to buy all this stuff we absolutely, positively don't need.

So in protest, i suggest that we celebrate, Festivus.

Who's with me!!?!?!?!

Something's gotta give

Quick snapshot of recent events. Pictures can be found my picture site. Too lazy/tired to post them into the entry.

Presenting my life in reverse chronological order (as far back as i can remember):
11/9 - Yngwie Malmsteen. 80's guitar rocker concert with my coworkers who are 12 years my senior. Metal concert full of leather jackets and long hair? Check. Something about seeing glam rockers past their prime prancing around in leather pants and long nasty hair doesn't quite have the appeal as some might claim. The guitar playing was amazing though. Hung out with basile afterwards just to hang and see his place (you need furniture).

11/5 - Friend's daughter's 1st b-day. Running down to san jose after woteam practice, arriving a little late, only to find that everyone's left and they're cleaning up. Seems like we koreans are awesome at coming to these party things, eating, saying "congrats" and leaving. Stuck around for a little and had a really interesting yet inspiring conversation with someone i haven't seen in a long time. We've come a long way since youth group...

11/4 - Thomas' surprise b-day party. Seeing how flustered allen was that night was worth the long drive up to the city. Poor guy. Glad the evening went as well as it did. Took a picture of Thomas coming up the stairs into his apt, blinding him with the flash. Probably didn't see that one coming. Went to a new and floundering club/lounge @ embarcadero center and had 2 worlds collide quite abruptly. Even worse? Getting confronted about it on monday by someone after finding pictures taken from someone his coworkers knew. Caught red-handed. I plead the 5th.

10/31 - Hallelujah nite - driving up to church to help out with the kids. Fighting through insane amounts of traffic to get to church before the evening ended. Bigups to henry for carpooling with me. I think because of him, we saved a good 30mins off our commute up to church. Getting a big blue cal painted on my face and proceeding to pick on the stanfurd group, getting into a minor tussle with john kang about his red 's' and my blue 'cal'... the axe is ours, less your memory fails you

10/21 - Leader's retreat/psuedo lock-in - Spending the evening with the deacons, welcoming team and inreach to hash out the details of the upcoming year. Realizing that the freshman were spending the night as well, most everyone cut out and went home, minus the people who lived in south bay. A long night filled with elephants dancing upstairs to a live rock concert at 3am. And i thought we were supposed to have team building.

10/14-11/5 - Video prep with henry - I think we poured in about 100 man-hours of actual computer time to produce a single 1minute 43 sec video clip. This isn't including the time for getting footage for the clip, brainstorming ideas, trawling through huge folders of pictures and music looking for suitable material. Yay for windows and the incessant freezing of windows movie maker.

Every weekend - Finding out the drum shield has been delayed, again. having to play the v-drums, yet again. Ending the worship set with numb hands/arm, again. Does anyone need an 80's pop/rock drummer??

mid oct - current - planning for praise night. Come out this friday to praise night!! 7:30pm @ 50 northridge.
