Took the plunge

Decided to finally sign up for this ride, after weeks of trolling this site for information, reading people's experiences, etc.

Don't know what else to say at this time. This will probably be the craziest thing i've ever done. One of my new years resolutions was to do one thing this year which is either 1) totally insane; 2) scares me; 3) challenges me. I think this qualifies as all 3. =)

I've been trying to ramp up my riding mileage for the past few months, seeing as how possible it would be to do this. I think i'm in fairly decent shape for january. Can't say the same for my butt. But, i'm really excited about this. It's gonna be an experience of a lifetime, regardless of how crazy my friends say i am.
So, basically, it's a ride from SF to LA during the first week of june. 545 miles. All on a bicycle. It's not like a tour de france or tour de anything. It's not a race, but rather just a ride. Full of fun experiences, great people, etc... at least, that's what i'm gathering from reading people's past experiences and looking through the pictures. It's an event to help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, and raises funds for people who are living with the illness.

In order to participate, each rider (being me), needs to raise at least $2500 in donations. This isn't for me, but it's for the SF Aids Foundation. If i don't raise enough money, basically i can't participate. But instead of donating with the pretext of "hey, it'll help him participate", please donate knowing that the money goes towards a great cause and will help improve the lives of people living with this awful sickness.

I'll try my best to keep everyone updated on how my training's going and such. This is by far the nuttiest thing I've ever attempted, but i'm really excited to do this. SF to LA? Bring it on....

Introducing...

http://cbs5.com/local/local_story_002213629.html

Apparently there was a landslide behind the church parking lot the other day.

The link above includes a video of the story, along with video footage of "The Rev. Ryan Kim".
Not just any Rev. Ryan. THE Rev. Ryan.

Wonder what he had to do to get that identifier in front of his name. Maybe the presbytery will come after us now...
